I've Lost my Dog

If you have lost your microchipped dog, please notify Petlog immediately. Log-in to register your lost dog and send a Lost Pet Alert.

If you have lost your dog, you should follow the steps mentioned on the Lost or Found a Pet? page. However here are a few further tips to help recover your lost dog:

  • Call your local animal warden and local police station (non-emergency number). Please be aware however that the police are no longer required to take in or deal with stray dogs, but may provide you with helpful contact numbers.
  • Never chase a dog, it can be perceived as a threatening action.
  • Walk around the area the dog went missing with a leash, some treats and maybe the dog's favourite toy. The scents of all these things may bring your lost dog back to you.
  • Always assume that your lost dog is nearby when you are walking around and talk in a re-assuring tone. Do not shout your lost dog's name as this may make them think they have done something wrong and can scare them off.
  • Don't give up - Those lost in an area, often stay around that area. Dogs that are lost from anywhere other than home, often return to the exact spot that they went missing from. A lost dog could return at any time, the same day or even months or years later
