Kerry Katona re-united with lost dog thanks to Petlog

Kerry Katona was today reunited with her German Shepherd Dog, Kai, thanks to him being microchipped and registered with Petlog.

Kai was reunited with Kerry after a dog warden from Macclesfield Borough Council collected him after Kai escaped under fencing at Katona's house in Wilmslow where she lives with her husband Mark Croft and four children.

Kai was found wandering the streets around Hawthorn Lane, a few hundred metres from Katona's house and was taken to Manchester Dogs Home later that day where his microchip was scanned. The scan revealed that Kai was registered with Petlog, the UK's largest pet reunification database. Kerry was called by a member of the Petlog team and she rushed to pick Kai up from the Dogs Home after she heard he was safe and well.

Petlog is owned and managed by the Kennel Club, which also runs the Good Citizen Dog Scheme, the largest dog training scheme in the UK. A member of the Katona household has expressed an interest in taking Kai on the Scheme's Bronze Award that aims to promote responsible dog ownership and, in turn, enhance her relationship with her German Shepherd Dog.

Last year Petlog handled nearly 100,000 calls relating to lost and found pets and reunited many animals with their owners. Petlog runs the only 24/7 pet reunification service in the UK from its dedicated call centre in Aylesbury and is also a member of Europetnet, which ensures pets can be identified if lost in over 20 European countries.

Caroline Kisko, Director of Communications at the Kennel Club said: "We are delighted to hear the Katona household was reunited with Kai and that Petlog was able to help make this happen. We get nearly 1000 calls each month and work round the clock to reunite lost or stolen pets with their owners.

"Kerry's story is another fine example of the importance of microchipping your pet and we would urge those owners who haven't got their pets microchipped to do so as soon as they can."
