Petlog ends three year search for cat, Jake

Issued N/A

Jake, a cat from Banbury has been reunited with his family after being missing for over three years. Jake is just one of the many thousands of pets reunited with their owners, thanks to Petlog, the largest pet reunification service in the UK, which safeguards over 3 million pets.

Sadly, thousands of pets go missing every year and many are not reunited with their owners as they do not have any form of identification.  Jake's remarkable and emotional story is just one of the many success stories where pets have been reunited because their owners have taken responsibility for their pet's safety and welfare by having a microchip painlessly inserted under the animal's skin.

Jake went missing in 2004 and Jake's owner Katie Harrison vividly remembers the distress she felt at his disappearance. Said Katie; "Jake has always been a very nervous cat, so I was especially concerned about his wellbeing when he went missing. I rang round all the local veterinary surgeries in an attempt to find him. Sadly no one had heard anything and I was devastated and could only presume the worst. "

However, remarkably, three years later Jake has been found only a few miles away in Brackley, Northamptonshire. Jake had been hanging around a family for just under a year and had just started to bravely sleep in their house. The family took him to the vet where he was scanned for his microchip and identified.
