To change your telephone number, follow the steps below:
If you have changed your email address and need to update it on your account. You will need to create a new account. Once you have created a new account, you will need to use the “Can’t see my pets” form within your account. You will need the microchip numbers for all of your pets. Once you have entered in your details your pets will be displayed.
Your microchip number is usually 15 digits and is a vital part of data security for you and your pet. The microchip number is sent to you once your pet has been recorded onto our database and can be found in the following documents:
Welcome email or letter from us A receipt or barcode given to you at the time of microchipping or rehoming
If you have just had your pet microchipped or recorded into your name, please allow up to 5 days for postal confirmation if you did not provide an email address.
If you do not have any of the above paperwork, you can arrange to have your pet scanned at a veterinary practice, welfare organisation, local authority/council or by a privately trained microchipping professional. You can then use our
look up a microchip tool to check which database your pet’s microchip details are held on.
If you have found your missing pet after previously recording it as lost, please report this to us by
logging into your account.
If you have found a stray pet, first check whether the pet has an identification tag with contact details on. If it does, try contacting the keeper.
If you do not know the microchip number for the pet, you can arrange to have them scanned at a Veterinary Practice, Welfare Organisation, Local Authority/Council or by a privately trained animal professional, and then use our
look up a microchip page to check which database the pet’s microchip details are held.
It is a legal requirement for found dogs to be reported to the Local Authority/Council Animal Warden.
Please see our
lost and found page for more details about what to do with a stray pet.
The cost paid when a pet is microchipped includes the cost of the microchip, the implanter’s time, as well as registration on a database for the lifetime of the pet; be that 10 or 20 years or more. Only a very small percentage of this fee contributes to the database services which includes a 24/7 reunification service for found pets.
We offer a Premium package for a one-off fee of £17. As well as other benefits and additional support, this allows the pet keeper to update their records as many times as is needed throughout the lifetime of their pet – that would be less than £2 per year. We don’t believe this is too much to pay for the peace of mind of knowing a pet is far more likely to be returned home if it went missing.
We are only one of a number of government compliant pet microchipping databases; all of which have similar charges to support pet keepers over the lifetime of their pet.
If you have created an online account with the same email, name and address you have used with us previously and believe there is information missing from your new online account such as your pets, then we may just need to clean up some of your data first. The quickest way to get help is to
login to your account, go to the dashboard and fill in our can't see my pets in my account form. Please ensure you have your microchip number to prevent delays in accessing your data.
Please note, we have seen huge numbers of historical customers visiting the new website and are currently working through a backlog of accounts needing review due to outdated information. This is a time‐consuming process, and responses are currently delayed by around 60 days. However, don’t worry all existing records are still safely on our database and we are processing enquiries as quickly as we can.
An example of the kind of data issue which may prevent a pet being matched to your account; we may have your existing record as J Bloggs and you have logged in using details for Joe Bloggs.
Please note: This does not impact our reunification services.
We offer a free transfer of keepership to an immediate family member in the event of a pet keeper passing away.
We will require a copy of the death certificate in order to process this.
Please use our
deceased relative form to advise us of the relevant details.
To check if a microchip is registered with us, use our
look up a microchip page.
Only professionals who meet our criteria will be able to view data associated with a microchip.
If your pet is recorded with another UK microchip database, you can apply to have your pet recorded with us.
You will need to ask permission from your current database before moving.
For details see our
transfer onto database page.
We are sorry you’ve decided to leave Petlog.
Please complete the
transfer to a new database form to confirm your details.
A member of the team will be in contact within 30 working days to faciliate this process.
